Texas A&M star transfer SG will reportedly make more than LeBron James

Texas A&M basketball coach Bucky McMillan enters his second season at the helm after leading the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament during his inaugural campaign, which was built from the transfer portal, while forward Rashaun Agee led the team in scoring and rebounds during his final collegiate season.
After defeating Saint Mary’s in the first round, the Aggies were no match for the Houston Cougars in the Round of 32, but nonetheless accomplished their goal of reaching the postseason after losing star transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako just seven games into non-conference play.
This offseason, several key starters/reserves will return for the 2027 season, while McMillan and his staff landed six players from the transfer portal, including the program’s crown jewel, former Kansas State shooting guard PJ Haggerty, who averaged nearly 24 points per game last season with the Wildcats.
While the Texas A&M football program has not shied away from paying transfer portal additions, Bucky McMillan’s hopes of getting back to the NCAA Tournament hinge on PJ Haggerty matching his 2025-2026 production, and while his connection with the staff, combined with McMillan’s fast-paced scheme, helped secure his commitment, his rumored NIL deal also did the trick.
This week, LeBron James, after eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers for a reported 2-year, $8 million deal, which, by James’ standards, is as team-friendly as it gets, but understandable given his determination to win another NBA Title before retiring.
According to The Athletic’s latest article, James’ new deal is on par with what some of the top college basketball players are making this year, including PJ Haggerty.
“Following discussions with multiple college coaches, general managers and NBA scouts, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect competitive interests, we know these 18 players will all be making at least $3.9 million.”

Haggerty is currently positioned as the 8th-ranked player in The Athletic’s transfer portal rankings and will make at least $3.9 million with the Aggies this season.
