CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Texas man is charged with driving under the influence and drug possession following a traffic stop.
According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a reported incident involving an individual with a gun on top of a vehicle while driving on Interstate 169 early Monday morning.
When deputies arrived, they located 33-year-old Sammy Contreras, of McAllen, Texas.
Contreras allegedly told dispatch that he was driving in a truck but was found driving an SUV during a traffic stop on Interstate 24, according to police.
Contreras allegedly told deputies he had “smoked meth two days before.” Deputies say a glass pipe and a bag of suspected methamphetamine were located inside the SUV.
Deputies arrested Contreras on charges of failure to signal or improper signal, possession of meth, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Contreras was lodged at the Christian County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
