CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Texas man is charged with driving under the influence and drug possession following a traffic stop.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a reported incident involving an individual with a gun on top of a vehicle while driving on Interstate 169 early Monday morning.

When deputies arrived, they located 33-year-old Sammy Contreras, of McAllen, Texas.

Contreras allegedly told dispatch that he was driving in a truck but was found driving an SUV during a traffic stop on Interstate 24, according to police.

Contreras allegedly told deputies he had “smoked meth two days before.” Deputies say a glass pipe and a bag of suspected methamphetamine were located inside the SUV.
