CONVERSE, Texas – A Converse man was arrested for planning a violent attack on the Texas State Capitol on Oct.1 , according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Benny Caldera Jr., 40, was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony terroristic threat against a public servant, records show. The charge is a third-degree felony.
DPS said the department received information Tuesday about a planned attack on the Texas State Capitol scheduled for Oct. 1, 2026.
DPS and FBI agents arrested Caldera around 3 a.m. at his Converse home, according to DPS. The investigation is ongoing.
Caldera was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a $75,000 bond, jail records show.
The Texas Capitol remains open during regular operating hours, DPS said.
