A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly following federal immigration officers, fleeing a traffic stop and crashing into three vehicles in Comal County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In a news release, DPS said troopers responded around 10 a.m. Monday to reports of an “aggressive driver” in a Ford F-150 who was following federal immigration officers and attempting to run their vehicles off the road.
Troopers located the vehicle along State Highway 46 and conducted a traffic stop, DPS said. The driver was identified as Johnny Acuna Jacobo, 20, of Lockhart.
DPS said Acuna Jacobo fled during the stop, prompting a vehicle pursuit.
During the chase, DPS said Acuna Jacobo failed to yield while entering the intersection at State Highway 46 and Mission Valley Road, crashing into three other vehicles.
Two people sustained serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals, according to DPS, and a third injured person told law enforcement they would seek medical treatment on their own.
After the crash, DPS said Acuna Jacobo fled on foot into a wooded area. Law enforcement located him after a “brief search,” and he was taken to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
After he was released from the hospital, DPS said Acuna Jacobo was booked into the Comal County Jail on multiple charges, including:
Evading arrest/detention with a vehicle
Evading arrest/detention
Collision involving an injury/failure to stop and render aid
Possession of a controlled substance
The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
