AUSTIN, Texas — A man accused of peering into apartment windows in Austin’s West Campus area earlier this month has been arrested, according to the University of Texas at Austin Police Department.
UTPD said Austin police arrested 35-year-old Colton Banks on Aug. 17 after officers responded to another report of someone peering into a window in the 1900 block of San Gabriel Street.
Banks was booked into the Travis County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct — window peeping and possession of a dangerous drug, according to UTPD.

Police identified Banks as the suspect featured in a UTPD safety advisory issued Aug. 7 following a series of reports near the University of Texas campus.
Austin police previously said they received at least five related reports between the evening of Aug. 6 and early morning hours of Aug. 7 in the area of San Gabriel Street and West 21st to West 23rd streets.
Callers reported a man looking into apartment windows and attempting to make contact with residents. In one instance, the man allegedly banged on a window, police said.
Officers searched the area with assistance from the APD K9 Unit, Air Support Unit and UTPD but were initially unable to locate the suspect. Police later received additional reports of the same individual being seen in the area.
UTPD announced Tuesday that Banks had since been taken into custody.
Police had previously reminded West Campus residents to lock their doors and windows, remain vigilant, and call 911 if they observe suspicious activity.
