Man found guilty of capital murder in killing of Austin woman, man

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A Travis County jury has found Sherles Gregorio Machado-Hernandez guilty of capital murder in the 2024 shooting deaths of his common-law wife and another man in southeast Austin.
Machado-Hernandez, 31, was convicted in the killings of Francis Kaina Anseume Corredor, 27, and Bryan Florentino Flores Alvarez, 19, who were found dead inside a vehicle at an apartment complex on Burton Drive in Austin’s Riverside neighborhood. Machado-Hernandez will receive an automatic life sentence in prison.
Prosecutors alleged Machado-Hernandez fatally shot the pair during the early morning hours before taking three children, prompting an Amber Alert later that day. Authorities later located the children safe. Two of the children were shared by Machado-Hernandez and Anseume Corredor.
According to investigators, surveillance video showed Machado-Hernandez arriving behind the victims’ vehicle shortly before the killings. Police said Anseume Corredor and Flores Alvarez were involved in a dating relationship at the time of their deaths.
Austin police arrested Machado-Hernandez hours after the shooting following a citywide search. Investigators tracked multiple vehicles connected to him before finding him hiding in the back seat of a vehicle.
At the time of his arrest, Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis described the case as an act of domestic violence, saying, “We have a coward who killed the mother of his children and left three children motherless.”
