EUFAULA, Okla. -A Texas man died after jumping from a boat on Lake Eufaula and failing to resurface, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Officials said the incident happened around 8:19 p.m. Wednesday about 1.5 miles east of the city of Eufaula in McIntosh County.
According to OHP, a ski boat was traveling west toward Eufaula Cove Marina at about 41 mph when 43-year-old Brandon M. Shipman of Kilgore, Texas, stood up and jumped from the boat.
Troopers said Shipman did not resurface. Authorities said it is not clear why Shipman jumped from the boat.
His body was recovered Thursday by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Marine Enforcement Division with assistance from the OHP Dive Team, officials said.
OHP said Shipman was not wearing a personal flotation device.
The boat’s operator and the seven other passengers were not injured.
