MADISON COUNTY, Texas — A Brookshire man was arrested following an investigation into stolen saddles and tack, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
In late December 2025, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of stolen saddles and assorted tack from a location on Strawther Road in North Zulch. Deputy Thomas Lehman responded to the scene and completed the initial report, which was subsequently forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division.
Within days of receiving the case in January 2026, Investigator Nathan Scott located and interviewed a witness who identified a suspect. During the investigation, Investigator Scott determined that additional criminal offenses had been committed.
On February 10, 2026, arrest warrants were issued for Henry Charles Fowler Jr., age not provided, of Brookshire, Texas. The warrants included charges of burglary of a building, burglary of a vehicle, theft of property, robbery – family violence, and unlawful restraint – family violence.
On February 14, 2026, Fowler was apprehended without incident by deputies with the Waller County Sheriff’s Office on all Madison County warrants, as well as an additional warrant out of Kaufman County for felony credit/debit card abuse. Fowler was magistrated by a Waller County Justice of the Peace and issued a total bond of $190,000. He was subsequently transported to the Madison County Jail, where he remained incarcerated for approximately two months.
Fowler was released on bond on April 14, 2026. During his incarceration, his cooperation with Investigator Scott, along with assistance from Special Rangers of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, led to the recovery of a portion of the stolen property and the development of several leads on the location of the remaining items. The recovered property has been returned to its rightful owner, and efforts to locate the remaining property are ongoing.
This investigation remains active pending the exhaustion of all leads related to property recovery. Fowler, who is currently out on bond, is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
