Former Texas A&M quarterback joins Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff

Former Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Jerrod Johnson is joining the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
Johnson had been the quarterbacks coach for the Houston Texans since 2023 before the two mutually parted ways after the 2025 season. Houston quarterback CJ Stroud was named the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023, after completeting 63.9% of his passes for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions. They were unable to recreate the magic, and Johnson will have a chance to restart his career in Philadelphia.
It has been a minute, but Johnson has experience with the Eagles, spending time on their practice squad in 2011. He started his coaching career in 2017 with the San Francisco 49ers as part of the Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. He did the same with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019 before becoming an offensive quality control coach for them from 2020-21. Johnson then spent the 2022 season with the Minnesota Vikings as their assistant quarterbacks coach.
Johnson played for Texas A&M from 2006-10, emerging as their starter in 2008. He played in 35 games during his career, completeting 58.6% of his passes for 8,011 yards, 67 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. He also ran for 877 yards and 16 touchdowns.
