COLDSPRING, Texas — A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend in the Coldspring area, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a reported assault in progress and found a female victim who was visibly distraught and injured. The victim had returned home from the grocery store to find her residence ransacked. As she attempted to contact the Sheriff’s Office, she was attacked from behind by her ex-boyfriend, identified as Dyllon Dowdell.
Investigators determined that Dowdell grabbed the victim by the throat, impeding her breathing until she lost consciousness. Dowdell fled the scene as deputies arrived, but was tracked in real time due to a court-ordered GPS ankle monitor. He was located at a local gas station in San Jacinto County and taken into custody without incident.
