Texas man charged with murder after Portales shooting—
PORTALES, N.M. – A Texas man is in jail after confessing to shooting and killing a man in Portales.
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a 29-year-old man found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a car earlier this week. The victim has been identified as Jaime Portillo.
The investigation led law enforcement to Farwell, Texas, just across the New Mexico border. Jose Omar Santos, 27, is now charged with murder, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
