TYLER, Texas — Several Mexican nationals have been indicted for federal immigration violations in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs. The cases involve individuals allegedly in the United States illegally after previous deportations.
Leonardo Chalchi, a 50-year-old, was arrested on October 16, 2025, in Smith County for evading arrest. Authorities determined Chalchi is a Mexican citizen who had been deported in 2021 and 2022. Francisco Velazquez-Castro, 46, was stopped for a traffic violation on November 14, 2025, also in Smith County, and found to be a Mexican citizen previously deported in 2017 and 2022. Both cases are under investigation by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Pablo Hernandez Rodriguez, 41, was arrested on November 30, 2025, in Smith County. He was identified as a Mexican citizen deported in 2020. Aurelio Saucedo-Alba, 57, was arrested on December 4, 2025, on a federal warrant, with records showing he was deported in 2019. These cases are being investigated by ICE.
