Texas man accused of trying to scam Saco resident—

SACO (WGME) – A Texas man is behind bars after Saco police and the FBI say he scammed a Maine resident.
He allegedly claimed to be from a tech support company and claimed hackers had stolen the victim’s personal information.
Twenty-seven-year-old Elon Harper is currently being held at York County Jail on $250,000 bail.
Police say he was able to gain the trust of the victim he targeted and then convinced them to buy a large amount of gold.
An investigator says they learned through other suspects that there was going to be a meeting last Friday, which is when they set up a sting and arrested Harper.
The police say to be aware of these scams. If something seems too good to be true, it likely isn’t real, and if something seems out of the ordinary, it should raise a red flag.
