AUSTIN, Texas — A Kyle man faces at least 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple armed robberies in Austin last summer.
38-year-old Yael Williams Jr., a convicted felon from Kyle, used a firearm while robbing a Subway restaurant and two 7-Eleven stores in June and July, the Department of Justice says.

The DOJ says that Williams threatened employees at the stores with a .22 caliber revolver and took cash and other property by force. The DOJ also says he fired shots at bystanders, one of whom was attempting to intervene in the robbery.
On Tuesday, in an Austin federal court, Williams pleaded guilty to one count of discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, along with two counts of brandishing a firearm.

The Justice Department says that he faces a mandatory minimum of 24 years in prison; his sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge.
