Texas man, 21, drowns in Cheatham Lake kayaking incident—

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — A kayaking trip on Cheatham Lake turned tragic when a young man lost his life.
On Thursday around 1:45 p.m., Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) officers responded to a possible drowning at the lake.
Robert Jarillo, 21, from Tomball, Texas, was kayaking with his brother when his kayak capsized. His brother found the kayak overturned and called 911.
TWRA, along with multiple agencies, arrived on the scene and found Jarillo at around 4 p.m. He was pronounced dead by the medical examiner.
Jarillo was not wearing a personal flotation device at the time. This incident marks the 25th boating-related fatality on Tennessee waters in 2025. The investigation is ongoing.
