HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting and SWAT standoff that happened on Thursday evening.

What we know:
Assistant Chief L. Menendez-Sierra says Mid-West patrol officers were called about a shooting in progress in the 6500 block of Harbor Town Drive around 8 p.m.
A woman was found lying on the ground nearby the apartment complex, police said. She told the officers she jumped from the second floor balcony of the apartment because a 17-year-old relative, later identified as her son, was shooting inside.
Two other females, a juvenile and another adult, were said to be in the apartment. The woman told police she was mother to the two females left inside.
