Looking to make a romantic gesture this Valentine’s Day? Justices of the peace in Hidalgo County want to help.
Seven JPs will be officiating free weddings Friday, Feb. 14, and couples looking to take advantage only need a valid marriage license. According to a release from the county, the license must be obtained at least 72 hours before the wedding; couples that cannot meet the requirement need to ask for a waiver from the county clerk’s office.
The county clerk’s office at the Vitals and Official Records department is located at 317 N. Closner Blvd. in Edinburg, with the release noting the department is located one block north of the courthouse on the corner of Closner Boulevard and Kuhn Street.
