Texas ranks second ‘most diverse state’ in new national study—
Texas is now the second most diverse state in the country, trailing only California, according to a new WalletHub study released this week.
Researchers compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia across categories that included racial and ethnic makeup, languages spoken, religious affiliation, cultural backgrounds, and socioeconomic factors such as income and education levels.
The study found Texas scored particularly high because of its nearly even split between white and Hispanic residents, along with sizable Black and Asian populations. About 35 percent of Texans also speak a language other than English at home, which researchers said contributed to the state’s high ranking.
