Ali Jibril, 25, is wanted on a charge of luring a child into a motor vehicle following an investigation by the Mechanicsburg Police Department.
The case began when police received a report on Thursday, March 12, that a 12-year-old girl had been approached two days earlier outside a business in the first block of East Simpson Street in Mechanicsburg, according to police.
The man allegedly engaged the girl in conversation and offered her a ride, which she declined, authorities said.
Before leaving, the man gave the girl his phone number, according to the investigation.
Detectives traced the phone number and eventually identified the man as Jibril, police said. After obtaining a search warrant for his phone records, investigators determined he had been in the area on the day of the incident, according to authorities.
A criminal warrant for Jibril was issued on May 28 by District Judge Mark W. Martin, court records show.
Police believe Jibril is currently in Texas. The warrant remains active.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Mechanicsburg Police Department.
