Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class currently has 10 commitments and is ranked 2nd by 247Sports. While coach Mike Elko and his staff aren’t even close to being finished yet, seven of the program’s ten commits are on defense, including rising edge Kaden McCarty. Committing to the Aggies back in early December, Elko is doing everything in his power to keep the Houston product committed heading into the summer.
With the spring practice season just ten days away, Texas A&M’s 2026 roster will feature 17 new transfer additions and 25 freshmen from the 2026 signing class, and while Elko is focused on installing every new player with the various schemes and culture, the Aggies will host a long list of 2027 prospects, including five-star cornerback John Meredith.
McCarty will take an official visit to College Station on May 28, and during the early parts of the offseason, the four-star pass rusher continues to look the part during his recent performance at the Rivals Houston Elite Camp, where he dominated against fellow 2027 and future recruits. Standing 6’2″ and nearly 220 pounds, McCarty’s blend of strength and athleticism could lead to becoming a five-star prospect.
During his last two seasons at Cy Falls, McCarty produced 110 tackles, 23 sacks, and 50 tackles for loss, leading to nearly 30 scholarship offers, a number that will continue to grow. Like nearly every one of the Aggies’ ten commitments, keeping McCarty in the fold will be tough, but Elko’s track record speaks for itself.
According to Rivals, McCarty is currently positioned as the 21st-ranked edge and 20th-ranked prospect in Texas.
