JASPER, Texas — A 28-year-old Jasper man was arrested for burglary after allegedly stealing a generator from a residence, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on January 25, 2026, around 9:00 a.m. at 1498 FM 3414.
Deputy Gray responded to the scene and discovered the generator in plain view in the backseat of a suspect vehicle, which had become stuck in the front yard while attempting to leave. The victim confirmed the generator was his property and had been taken without consent.

The suspect, identified as Jason Lane Baldwin, was found next door at his sister’s residence. He admitted to taking the generator and placing it in his vehicle, leading to his arrest for Burglary of Habitation, a second-degree felony.
Baldwin was transported to the Jasper County jail. Sheriff Chuck Havard emphasized the commitment of his staff to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
