Texas trash truck driver discovers man inside compactor—

KRUGERVILLE, Texas — A trash truck driver made a startling discovery during his morning route near Edgar’s Convenience Store when he heard unusual noises coming from the truck’s compactor.
The driver promptly called 911, leading to the rescue of a homeless man from the vehicle’s compacting area.
Krugerville Police Department, with assistance from the Aubrey Fire Department, successfully extricated the individual, who refused further medical assistance and admitted to sleeping in the dumpster. The man, uninjured, left the scene after the incident.

The police department noted that people experiencing homelessness sometimes seek shelter in dumpsters to stay warm, sleep, or find items, which can pose life-threatening risks due to the garbage truck’s hydraulic lift and compactor. The alertness of the driver was crucial in preventing a potential tragedy, according to the Krugerville Police Department.
