Texas deputies arrest man for attempted bank break-in and drug possession—
CHESTER, Texas — A 28-year-old man from Corrigan was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into a bank and resisting arrest, according to the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m. at the BOM Bank in Chester.
Deputies responded to reports of a suspicious male who had informed employees at the Chester Exxon of his intention to break into the bank across the street. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Wesley Harris, who matched the description provided. Harris reportedly resisted arrest, striking one deputy in the face and kicking another in the knee, stated the source. After additional deputies arrived, Harris was subdued, and a small clear baggie containing approximately 2.5 grams of methamphetamine was discovered on him.
Harris faces charges including two counts of felony assault on a peace officer, felony possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and making a terroristic threat. Justice of the Peace Tina Self set his bonds totaling $145,000.
