Texas Football Transfer Portal Signing: Ian Geffrard commits to ‘Horns
The Longhorns portal class has begun. Ian Geffrard, former Arkansas DL, has committed to Texas after visiting Austin this weekend.
Texas has picked up their first commitment of the portal cycle in the form of Ian Geffrard, 380lbs nose tackle from Arkansas. Geffrard was in Austin this weekend and has interest from Kentucky, SMU and Auburn in the portal. This marks not only the first portal commitment, but Will Muschamp’s first addition as the Longhorns defensive coordinator.
Geffrard is coming off a year with 25 tackles and a PD, and while that sounds modest, NT is not a position to rack up stats. He fits the bill of someone that can open up opportunities for Hero Kanu, Alex January, Justus Terry and other Longhorn DL to get 1-on-1s where they’d normally be doubled. This is the perfect replacement for Cole Brevard, who did a fantastic job as the anchor of the DL this season.
