New research from iSelect has revealed the U.S. states with the best and worst employee benefits in 2025, ranking all 50 states based on wage fairness, health plan affordability, working hours and paid time off (PTO) policies.
Texas Ranks Second to Last for Job Satisfaction
Texas finds itself near the bottom of the list when it comes to employee happiness, ranking 49th in the nation with a job satisfaction index score of just 3.3 out of 100. According to iSelect’s 2025 report, Texas workers face some of the nation’s toughest conditions — including longer-than-average workweeks (43.5 hours), high health plan costs (14.2% of median income) and no guaranteed paid time off. The state’s wide wage disparity (116.31%) also contributes to its poor performance, suggesting that while Texas may be known for job growth, many of those jobs offer limited benefits and lower overall satisfaction.
