Woman convicted in fatal DUI crash gets prison sentence to match victim’s birthday—

HOUSTON (KTRK/CNN NEWSOURCE/WKRC) – A Texas woman has been sentenced to 11 years and 14 days in prison after being convicted of manslaughter in a fatal drunken-driving crash.
Kristina Chambers, 35, was found guilty last week for the 2023 crash in which she was speeding in her Porsche when she struck and killed Joseph McMullins.

Prosecutors said McMullins and a woman had just left a doughnut shop on their first date when the crash occurred. Surveillance video capturing the collision was presented during the trial.
The sentence length — 11 years and 14 days — was chosen to correspond with McMullins’ birthday, Nov. 14. Chambers faced up to 20 years in prison.
Prosecutors said Chambers was driving her Porsche 911 Carrera about 70 mph, around 2 a.m. on April 19, 2023. She hit a curb before crashing into McMullin, 33, on the sidewalk as he left a Houston donut shop with a date.
According to KHOU, he was sent 30 feet into the air.
