Texas woman sentenced for fatal DUI; prison term matches victim’s birthday—

HOUSTON (KTRK) – A Texas woman convicted in a fatal 2023 DUI crash has been sentenced.
Kristina Chambers was found guilty of manslaughter last week.
Authorities say Chambers was drunk and speeding in her Porsche when she struck Joseph McMullins. He and a woman had just left a donut shop on their first date.
According to court records, Chambers’ blood alcohol content was four times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
The collision was caught on surveillance cameras, and that video was used during the trial.
The 35-year-old Chambers received a sentence of 11 years and 14 days—symbolically tied to McMullins’ birthday on November 14.
Prosecutors depicted Chambers as a wealthy woman who wanted to show off her new car to friends who were inside the vehicle at the time, before allegedly visiting several bars the night of the crash.
She had faced up to 20 years in prison.
