article DALLAS – A North Texas man was sentenced to six years in prison for smuggling immigrants into the country illegally.

Whatweknow: OlandMcKenzie,a43-year-oldEulessresident,wasarrestedin2023afterdeputiesinMaverickCounty,nearthesouthernborder,stoppedthe18-wheelerhewasdriving. Accordingtocourtdocuments,hedidnothaveacommercialdriver’slicense.  Andafterborderpatrolagentswerecalledintoinspecthistruck,theyfound18peoplehidinginametalgrainhoppertrailer. McKenziewasarrested.Agrandjurylaterindictedhimforconspiracytotransportillegalaliensplacinglivesinjeopardyandillegalalientransportationplacinglivesinjeopardy. InMay,ajuryfoundhimguiltyonbothcounts.
